2013 Powder Horn

Powder Horn is an opportunity designed to expose Scouting Adults and Youth 14 years or older (age is 13 if completed eighth grade and in Venturing) to the resources necessary to operate a successful high adventure program for your unit. This action-packed, hands-on outdoor course will provide you with:

  • An introduction to a variety of resources
    necessary to provide a robust outdoor program
  • Knowledge of how to identify local resources
    and consultants for high adventure activities
  • Knowledge of the health and safety requirements, as well as the rules and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America as they apply to the outdoor programs.

When: August 15th – 18th, 2013
Where: Camp Tri-Mount, East Jewett NY
How much: $400

Prerequisites:

  • Must be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America
  • Trainings (All can be found at myscouting.org) :
    • Leaders – completed Venturing, Boy Scout, or Cub Scout Leader Specific Training (for your current position)
    • Youth – Introduction to Leadership Skills
    • All – Venture Youth Protection, Hazardous Weather, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Climb on Safely
  • Current Annual BSA Health and Medical Record (Parts A,B,C and D plus PADI form if participating in SCUBA)
