(KINGSTON- November 2020) The Rip Van Winkle Council, Boy Scouts of America will honor Ulster County Executive Patrick Ryan with the Distinguished Citizens Award at this year’s Virtual Dinner & Auction to be held Thursday, December 10th on Facebook.
The Distinguished Citizens Award is presented annually by the Rip Van Winkle Council to people and organizations who make a difference in our community through their service to others. County Executive Ryan’s ability to quickly mobilize the resources of his office, community leaders, and networks is critical to addressing the vital health and human services needs of the residents of our community.
During the event, the Council will also be honoring Adams Fairacre Farms with the Corporate Citizen Award. For more than 100 years, Adams Fairacre Farms has helped raise funds, devoted their resources, and donated food to health and human service organizations throughout the Hudson Valley. During this pandemic, the Adams family has once again demonstrated what it really means to be an “Essential Business.”
“This year’s event theme of Making a Difference is clearly demonstrated by these deserving recipients for their outstanding contributions of leadership, action, and tireless dedication to the well-being of our community throughout this pandemic,” said the Council’s Scout Executive, Dana Kuhns.
The recognition ceremony will be showcased through a Virtual Dinner and Auction to be held Thursday, December 10th, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. Master of Ceremonies, Ward Todd, President and CEO of the Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce, will expound on the efforts by these two award recipients, as well as showcase several young men and women Scouts who are making a difference in their own communities. The event can be viewed on the Council’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/RipVanWinkleCouncil, and auction items can be previewed and bid on at:
Proceeds from this fundraiser will directly support Scouting programs in the Hudson Valley, ensuring that more than 1,000 youth in Ulster and Greene Counties will continue to benefit from leadership, life, and character development skills gained through Scouting. Ulster Savings Bank is the primary sponsor of this virtual event, which will feature several sponsorship opportunities for businesses, family, and friends to extend congratulations and appreciation for the work of this year’s recipients. A silent auction fundraiser features merchandise and artwork donated by local businesses and organizations. All donations are tax-deductible and will benefit local Scouting programs.
